Delhi Capitals have played four matches till now. They’re second last on the list with only one victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) last Sunday. The leading batsmen were David Warner, Rishabh Pant, and Prithvi Shaw. And two out of these three cricketers are now in trouble!
Prithvi Shaw to get arrested?
If one recalls, Prithvi Shaw landed in a major controversy last year in February when he was accused of molestation charges by social media influencer Sapna Gill. They got embroiled in a major fight, and his car was brutally thrashed during the wee hours in Mumbai.

On April 3, Wednesday, a metropolitan magistrate court in Mumbai ordered an inquiry into the molestation charges leveled by Sapna Gill against Delhi Capitals player Prithvi Shaw. She registered a complaint to seek FIR under sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (Word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Prithvi Shaw and his friend Ashish Yadav for allegedly assaulting her with a bat.
Police had earlier given a clean chit to Prithvi Shaw. CCTV footage earlier confirmed Prithvi Shaw and his friend Ashish Yadav were dancing and drinking at the Andheri pub. But there was no sign of ill or inappropriate behavior towards Sapna Gill. In fact, her friend Shobit Thakur wanted to capture the cricketer on his phone, which he objected. And that led to a fight between both parties.
The court has ordered the police to file a report by June 19, 2024. It is now to be seen whether Prithvi faces any charges or is taken behind bars in the molestation case.
Rishabh Pant and Delhi Capitals fined!
Rishabh Pant, along with the entire team of Delhi Capitals, were fined by the BCCI for maintaining a slow over rate for the second time in IPL 2024.
An official statement by BCCI confirmed, “Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on April 3.”
Rishabh Pant has been fined a massive sum of 24 lakhs, while Abishek Porel and other players are ordered to pay 6 lakhs or 25% of their match fees (whichever is less).
Unexpected, but the latest season of IPL 2024 has turned quite controversial. It is now to be seen whether Delhi Capitals and their players are able to resurrect in their personal as well as professional lives.
