Sara Ali Khan is currently the talk of the town with two back-to-back releases on OTT. Last week, she entertained with the murder mystery Murder Mubarak, but this week, she arrived with her period drama Ae Watan Mere Watan. And while we say arrived, we genuinely feel that finally, the diva arrived with the film despite getting mixed reviews and her dialogue delivery and acting skills being questioned.
The actress made her debut in 2018, and interestingly, in her debut year, Sara delivered two films in one month. While she started with Kedarnath, she finished with Simmba. Both films were accepted by the audiences.
Over these 6 years, Sara Ali Khan‘s paychecks have changed drastically, with a considerable change in the number of digits as well. Sara Ali Khan’s debut fee for Kedarnath is not public, but an old report by Filmfare says that she charged a bomb for the Abhishek Kapoor film. In fact, despite hesitance, Sara was paid what she was asked for.

SSR Took A Paycut For Sara’s Debut Film
While Sara was paid a bomb for her debut film, Kedarnath struggled a lot through finances due to a lot of issues later. The film was costly, with a set amounting to 7 crore. Later, when the budget of the film increased by almost 35%, director Abhishek Kapoor and lead actor Sushant Singh Rajput even accommodated pay cuts to keep the expenses in check!
Second Paycheck
It was never revealed how much Sara Ali Khan got for Kedarnath. However, she charged 50 lakh for her next film, Rohit Shetty, where she literally cast herself after approaching the director and asking for work. Rohit was impressed by Sara’s humble and grounded nature for struggling and asking for work despite her superstar genes.
2.5 – 3 crore First Hike
Sara took her first jump after she started charging 2.5 crore to 3 crore for the next set of films that, included Coolie No. 1 and Atrangi Re. She was loved in Atrangi Re, and her paychecks took a Chaka Chak jump henceforth.
Zara Hatke Zara Bachke
For Laxman Utekar’s film, the actress charged 4 crore, and the film fared decent at the box office. However, despite taking such swift leaps in her paychecks, the actress is still grounded in her roots, keeping her expenditures in check. Vicky Kaushal once narrated how she scolded her mother for buying a towel for 1600 rupees. Even Janhvi Kapoor confessed how Sara booked the cheapest hotel for 4 – 5K on their trip to Kedarnath.
A Leap Of 1300%?
According to a report by Jansatta, the actress now charges somewhere between 5 – 7 crore. This might indicate that she has been paid in the same range to play the lead Usha Mehta in Ae Watan Mere Watan. This would be a growth of around 1300% from Simmba to her current films.
Hope Sara Ali Khan keeps growing the same way and entertains us through her Namaste Darshakon series.
