The brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor in Kolkata’s RG Khar Hospital has sent shockwaves in the entire nation. Some Bollywood celebs also took to their social media handle to demand justice for the victim and also highlighted the importance of women’s safety. For the unversed, on Independence Day (August 15), numerous protests were organized by people across the country for the gruesome incident.
Alia Bhatt shared a hard-hitting post about solidifying women’s safety. The post showcased statistics about the rape cases and called for strict measures as the need of the hour. Kareena Kapoor Khan shared a post that said, “12 Years Later, The Same Story, The Same Protest But We Are Still Waiting For Change.” Hrithik Roshan took to his X handle to share a riveting post that read, “Yes, we need to evolve into a society where we ALL feel equally safe. But that is going to take decades. It’s going to hopefully happen with sensitizing and empowering our sons and daughters.
The next generations will be better. We will get there. Eventually. But what in the interim ? Right now justice would be to put a hard stop to such atrocities. And the only way to do that is a punishment so harsh that it scares the living daylights out of such perpetrators. That’s what we need. Perhaps? Needless to say, the entire nation is waiting for the perpetrators to meet a grave punishment for this horrifying crime.
