Mirzapur: The Movie has emerged as one of the most awaited films in Indian cinema, with anticipation building ever since its announcement. Marking the theatrical leap of India’s biggest OTT franchise, the film will bring the iconic world of Mirzapur to the big screen for the first time.

Ali Fazal Reveals Where Mirzapur: The Movie Picks Up

The recently released explosive teaser and trailer have further amplified the excitement among fans. While the excitement for the film’s release continues to rise, Ali Fazal, aka Guddu Pandit, was seen urging audiences to watch Mirzapur Season 1 up to Episode 6 to understand where Mirzapur: The Movie begins.

During the team’s promotional visit to Patna, Ali Fazal explained the connection between Mirzapur: The Movie and the series, giving audiences a glimpse into how the film continues the story of the much-loved franchise. He said, “Everyone must go home and watch Series 1, but only till episode 6. As from episode 6 the story of movie starts and revolves.” While the Mirzapur series has a cult following across the nation, this has further elevated the excitement to revisit the series and watch the film, allowing audiences to connect the story and its characters.

Mirzapur: The Movie Cast, Crew & Release Date

The film brings back iconic characters from Mirzapur—Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) and Guddu Pandit (Ali Fazal)—and marks the much-anticipated comeback of Munna Bhaiya (Divyenndu), one of the franchise’s most beloved characters.

The ensemble cast also includes Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Duggal, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Gaur, Sushant Singh, Mohit Malik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Sonal Chauhan, Pramod Pathak, and Anangsha Biswas.

Mirzapur: The Movie is presented by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment. Directed by Gurmeet Singh, written by Puneet Krishna, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment. The film is co-produced by Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani. Mirzapur: The Movie releases in cinemas on 4th September 2026.
