The market of rated R films has eventually grown to a huge extent in recent times. In fact, last year we saw Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker hitting the $1 billion mark. Now, that number really speaks a lot about the huge audience base of the respective genre.

Rated R films have always attracted the audience due to its no filter comedy or edgy and bold content. The best examples would be films like Dakota Johnson-Jamie Dornan’s Fifty Shades Of Grey and The Passion of the Christ featuring Jim Caviezel. No matter how restricted the audience segment is, these films’ box office ride minted huge bucks for the investors.

Joker (2019)- Released in 2019, the film is the highest-grossing rated R film ever with a sum of $1.07 billion. Reportedly, Joaquin Phoenix was paid $4.5 million for his role.

Deadpool 2 (2018)- This superhero comedy film is on the 2nd spot with $786 million. Ryan Reynolds took away $5 million for this film and also benefitted from box office bonus.

Deadpool (2016)- For the first instalment, Ryan Reynolds was surprisingly paid as lower as $2 million. Thankfully, he got bonus post film’s $783 million collections.

The Matrix Reloaded (2003)- Keanu Reeves became a sensation post the mega-success of the first part. For the second one, he got a hike and was paid with $15 million. The film made $742 million globally.

It (2017)- For this supernatural horror film, actor Jaeden Lieberher was paid a sum of $100,000. Also, he was given a $35k bonus post film’s $702 million collections.

Logan (2017)- Hugh Jackman really enjoyed some amazing deals for his mutant character. For Logan, he was paid $20 million along with a back end deal. The film had made $619 million globally.

The Passion of the Christ (2004)- Here, we don’t know much about Jim Caviezel’s pay. Reportedly, it is learnt that he earned anything between $175,000-$200,000. He also got bonus post film’s $612 million collections.

The Hangover Part 2 (2011)- The trio of Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis was apparently paid an amount of $15 million each. The film had made $587 million globally.

Fifty Shades Of Grey (2015)- Even though the romantic drama was a big success, Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan were paid just $250,000 each. They did enjoy a bonus after the film went onto collect $567 million at the box office.

Ted (2012)- Mark Wahlberg was paid an amount of $7.5 million for the film. Ted made a global collection of $549 million.
