Bobby Deol made a strong OTT debut with MX Player’s Aashram. Directed by Prakash Jha, two seasons of the show have been released and both of them have got the huge viewership. Bobby Deol who plays the role of a fraud saint in the show has garnered huge appreciation for his performance.
However, Aashram has also been in controversies as the show has received flak for hurting Hindu sentiments by allegedly depicting the Hindu saints in a wrong picture.
The latest is that the Jodhpur court has issued a legal notice to Bobby Deol and Prakash Jha after a case was filed against the web series. Reportedly, the hearing regarding the case has been scheduled for January 11.
As per PTI reports, the petition has been filed by a local resident, Khush Khandelwal. A part of the petition reads, “The portrayal of Deol as a Hindu saint has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus, who respect and worship saints. His portrayal as a rapist, corrupt and drug dealer has diminished the place saints hold for Hindus.”
Along with Bobby Deol, Aashram also stars Adhyayan Suman, Aaditi Pohankar, Darshan Kumar, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Tushar Pandey, Anupriya Goenka, Preeti Sood and others.
Talking about working in Aashram, Preeti Sood recently said that getting an offer to be a part of the web series by Prakash Jha, was a wow moment for her.
“Working in Aashram, was like a dream come true! I adore Bobby Deol sir on set and I had a huge fan girl moment. When I was offered the part, it was totally a wow moment for me. It was amazing and heartwarming to work with such a talented and hardworking star, but most of all, he was humble, down to earth and truly supportive. He even encouraged me, saying ‘You are a very fine artist and you are so expressive’. As an actress, these things motivated me a lot,” she said.
“The series was one of my most beautiful journeys. We were shooting in Ayodhya, which in itself was so serene and surreal, and personally I believe that the message of the series was so strong that being a part of it, was extremely fulfilling to me as an actor,” she added.
