South Indian cinema has gained widespread traction in recent years for its compelling storytelling, high-octane action sequences, and rich cultural narratives. Actors like Rajinikanth, Vijay, Prabhas, and Allu Arjun have become pan-India stars with massive fan followings. The release of Prabhas’ Baahubali established the trend of pan-India films, earning nationwide fame. This success encouraged other actors and directors to produce big-budget blockbusters, leading to hits like Ram Charan and Jr NTR’s RRR, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa, and Yash’s KGF Chapter 2, all of which smashed box office records.
In a throwback telephonic conversation between DNA and Prabhas during the premiere of his film Radhe Shyam, the actor opened up about the pan-India rivalry with stars who have achieved massive success.
While discussing the success of RRR and its status as the third highest-grossing Indian film after Dangal and Baahubali 2, Prabhas was asked whether the rise of new pan-India stars like Jr NTR, Ram Charan, and Yash might lead to rivalry among actors. The actor responded, “Every business has competition, but on the other hand, if you look at it…as I’ve said, now you will see a lot of Indian films. It was always there…my grandfather saw Maine Pyaar Kiya and loved Salman Khan…so, it was always there. Now, the exposure is more.”

He continued, “Eventually, we are going to make a lot of Indian films. In fact, I feel we are going to cross the boundaries of Indian cinema. So, more than rivalry, I feel we are already late in making Indian films. Now that we’ve started, it’s going well, and we’re going to make a lot of Indian films together, both from the North and South.”
On other ventures, Prabhas recently delivered a successful performance in Kalki 2898 AD, which was a huge hit at the box office. His upcoming projects include Salaar: Part 2, The Raja Saab, and others.
