The trailer for Nikkhil Advani’s long-awaited series The Revolutionaries is out now! The long-format show stars some familiar yet new faces. The reason I’m calling them new is that we have seen these actors before on our screens, but definitely not in this manner. The Revolutionaries narrates the tale of young freedom fighters who sacrificed their youth for India’s freedom. It stars Rohit Saraf, Bhuvan Bam, Gurfateh Pirzada, and Pratibha Ranta.

The trailer begins with the familiar voice of actor Bhuvan Bam. He has a strong and convincing voice as he says, “Azaadi maangni nahi cheenni padegi, angrezon ko harana nahi, mitana padega.” Bhuvan plays Rash Behari Bose, Rohit Saraf as Sachindranath Sanyal, Gurfateh Pirzada as Bagha Jatin, and Pratibha Rant as Pratibha Lahiri. We see all of their faces on wanted posters on a board in the trailer as they go head against the British officers in pre-independent India. The trailer also introduces Jason Shah as General Dyer.

Directed and created by filmmaker Nikkhil Advani, The Revolutionaries is inspired by Sanjeev Sanyal’s book Revolutionaries: The Other Story Of How India Won Its Freedom. It is written by Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh, Akshita Wadhwana, Shobhit Narang, and Rutvi Mehta.

The setting looks quite impressive and immediately takes us back in time. Whether it’s the costumes or the dialogue, every element seems era-appropriate in the trailer.

The music also has a strong impact on the trailer itself. Poetry was a powerful form of communication back then, and the series promises impactful verses that capture the era’s mood.

Bhuvan Bam is known for his comic timing and many such videos. It is an interesting casting choice to cast him as a freedom fighter. He already looks convincing in the role of a common man who rises to the occasion in times of national need. Rohit Saraf also shed his chocolate-boy image as he bulked up for the role.

Overall, the show looks promising with a very intriguing casting choice. The setup looks quite familiar, and the action blocks are already impressive. The series also seems to have good writing with poetry at its core. The show will be released on Amazon Prime Video on September 11.
