After the debacle of Adipurush, all eyes are set on Prabhas’ Salaar. The film releases this December and will clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki at the box office. This is a very important film for Prabhas as the actor hasn’t delivered anything big after SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. Still, it has managed to rake in record-breaking numbers by selling its theatrical rights in Telugu states. Keep reading to know more!

Even though Prabhas’ last two films, Radhe Shyam and Adipurush, turned disasters at ticket windows, his upcoming Christmas release carries immense hype. One of the major factors behind the hype is that Prashanth Neel is returning as a director after delivering a monstrous blockbuster with KGF Chapter 2. And everyone is excited to see how he presents the Baahubali star on the big screen.

With a solid on-ground buzz, Salaar is in hot demand among distributors, especially in the territories where Prabhas has a strong fan following. As a result, the pre-release business in Telugu states has amassed a huge sum through theatrical rights deals. As per Track Tollywood’s report, the film’s rights in the Nizam region have been acquired by Mythri Movies for 65 crores NRA (Non-Refundable Advance).

Abhishek Reddy has bought Salaar’s Ceded rights for 27 crores. Rights for Uttarandhra have been sold at 20.40 crores. 13.60 crores have come from the deal of East Godavari rights. Theatrical rights in Guntur and Nellore have been locked at 12 crores and 6.30 crores, respectively. The deal for the regions of West Godavari and Krishna is yet to be locked, but an amount of 19 crores is expected from these two regions.

So, the total pre-release business of Salaar comes to 163.30 and is only next to RRR. Before the Prabhas starrer, only two films have managed to do a pre-release business of above 150 crores – RRR and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. With such a huge amount, close to 165 crores, being garnered through the sale of theatrical rights, the biggie will need to earn at least 200 crores cumulative box office collection in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to be a successful affair for distributors.
