John Abraham celebrates his 52nd birthday today (December 17). Throughout his glorious film career, he has experimented with his roles and enticed the fans with his charming looks and screen presence. While the actor is known to be a fiercely disciplined fitness enthusiast, there was also a time when he admitted to feeling guilty for endorsing a fairness cream. His action to endorse the brand grabbed even more attention because he was dating actress Bipasha Basu at the time, who is known to be a dusky beauty.
John Abraham Felt Guilty For Endorsing A Fairness Cream
According to Bollywood Shaadi, John Abraham was questioned about the same in his interview with Komal Nahta. He admitted to being the guilty party. The Dhoom actor said, “Now, at the end of the day, we’re a fairness cream, so we’re a guilty party. But we made sure that we don’t use it as an emotional quotient that if you become fair, you’d get a girl.”

However, John Abraham also clarified why he went on to give a green signal for the advertisement. The Pathaan actor said, “See, it is a very valid question. When the term fairness came up, I was a little worried, and I spoke to (the fairness cream brand). If you look at the ad, through the ad, fairness ka naam nahi liya hai (not used the word). It says fairness that is guaranteed, so I said no, let’s make it results that is guaranteed.”
John Abraham On The Meaning Of Fairness
In the same interview, John Abraham also specified the exact meaning of fairness, which, according to him, is to remove dark spots and blemishes. He said, “The other thing is that, in India, you’ll be shocked at this because this is according to a market survey, fairness is a term that is colloquially used for removing blemishes. Removing the dark spots (on your face) is technically fairness. That’s what the term fairness means in India. The idea of this fairness cream was to remove these blemishes to make them two tones lighter, and we specifically maintained it in the ad as well.”
On the work front, John Abraham will be seen in the film Tehran. The movie is being helmed by Arun Gopalan. It also stars Manushi Chhillar in the lead role.
