Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif starrer Sooryavanshi which is directed by Rohit Shetty was set to release on the 24th of March but Coronavirus Pandemic resulted in the shuffle. Now, the movie has been postponed indefinitely and an official announcement about the release date is yet to be made.
Rumours started flowing about Sooryavanshi’s clash with Salman Khan’s Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai this Eid. But, it seems that’s not going to happen at all. Makers of Sooryavanshi have a different plan for the film which might be good news for the fans.
According to a report published in the Republic, Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi will be releasing as soon as the theatres will re-open and will not wait till 22nd May. Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai was supposed to clash with Laxmmi Bomb which won’t be possible now.
As Sooryavanshi postpones, Akshay Kumar will have to shuffle Laxmmi Bomb‘s release date to keep a sufficient gap between both the films.
The report reads, “The cast and crew of Sooryavanshi want to release the film as soon as possible. Rohit Shetty, Akshay Kumar, and the rest of the lead actors want the film to be released as soon as the government lifts the ban on public places. Right now, there is a ban on public hotspots such as theatres, bars, swimming pools etcetera. Once this ban is lifted and the threat of coronavirus has minimised, Sooryavanshi will be released in theatres.”
Katrina and Akshay have earlier worked together in films such as Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Namastey London, Welcome, Singh Is Kinng, De Dana Dan and Blue. They were last seen together in the 2010 dud Tees Maar Khan, which is primarily recalled till date for Katrina’s dance number, Sheila ki jawaani.
Sooryavanshi, directed by Rohit Shetty, is a cop action drama. Katrina opened up about her rapport with Akshay while promoting Sooryavanshi on The Kapil Sharma Show.
