Breaking Bad is one of the most popular TV series with a worldwide fan following. The series came out in 2008 and has achieved a cult status. Created by Vince Gilligan, the series stars Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, RJ Mitte, Bob Odenkirk, Betsy Brandt, Jonathan Banks, Giancarlo Esposito and others. The series was loved not only for how its protagonist walks the dark path but also for how cruel the villain, Gus Fring, was.

Everyone talks about Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston, and how his character becomes darker and more complex when Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) arrives in the series. Walt and Gus were a powerful duo together in the meth-making business. But they showed how ruthless they can be, when they stood against each other. Later, we also got to see Gus’ meth empire in Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul. The series stars Bob Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn and Jonathan Banks.

But imagine if there’s another Breaking Bad spin-off which will tell us everything about how Gus Fring became so powerful and indestructible in the meth and crime business? How did he come up with the idea of Los Pollos Hermanos as a cover-up for his illegal activities? Recently, Giancarlo was asked about the same, and he gave an interesting answer.

The Mandalorian star told British GQ, “Yeah, I would love that too. My backstory is he was a military guy who worked his way up through the ranks and could have become president, el jefe, el presidente, even possibly the dictator and have taken over. But he wanted to do something that could not be controlled by others, and he wanted to control his own destiny. And so he took off to create a new life for himself in America and become a meth dealer, a businessman.”

Giancarlo Esposito As Gus Fring

The Breaking Bad actor added that in his younger days, Gus Fring was someone like Tony Montana. “But he worked his way into becoming level enough to listen, hear, and see through his emotional state. We would hope that it might be The Rise of Gus,” stated Giancarlo.

Well, The Rise of Gus indeed sounds interesting for a spin-off title. We hope Vince Gilligan and Giancarlo have discussions about the same and expand the Breaking Bad universe. After all, Better Call Saul proved how sometimes a spin-off can receive more love and appreciation than the original series. Also, who doesn’t love a story about how someone became a villain? These evil guy stories are always intriguing!

Should there be a spin-off on Gus Fring?
