Aasha Trailer Review: Urvashi Turns Angry, Brave Mother In This Promising Mother-Daughter Story! Ft Aishwarya Lekshmi & Joju George

Senior actress Urvashi has played the role of a mother multiple times on screen. Among them, one of her most memorable roles is in the 2005 film Achuvinte Amma, where she played a possessive mother to Meera Jasmine’s Achu. The emotional mother-daughter story struck a chord with the audience and remains one of the most popular Malayalam films in the genre. Now, her upcoming film Aasha once again explores the mother-daughter genre, with her playing a possessive mother.

The trailer of the upcoming Malayalam film opens with Urvashi and Aishwarya Lekshmi having a conversation as the mother drives. Aishwarya Lekshmi, as the daughter, tells her mother that she would take a solo trip and hints at her mother being extraordinary and brave in her life. She says she would have done the same if she were like her mother. We see that Urvashi plays a very headstrong mother who has an eye for detail. Things change for the mother when they get involved in a road accident. On the other hand, there is Joju George, who has multiple cases against him and is a rebellious personality.

What follows is a court case in which two strong-willed people go head-to-head. A case that could have been resolved amicably becomes much bigger than it needed to be.

It is quite interesting to see a very different kind of mother portrayed on screen. Usually, portrayals of mothers have been quite stereotypical on screen. But Aasha promises to present an angry, possessive mother who refuses to let go of arrogant people.

The casting of the film is very interesting, with Aishwarya playing the daughter and Joju George playing an angry character, which is uncommon in most of his films. But here, the narrative seems interesting. Towards the end of the trailer, we hear Aishwarya’s voiceover describing her mother as positive and angry. The trailer has not revealed much about Urvashi’s character, but it promises to have more layers.

Overall, it’s a well-cut trailer that introduces the three characters and their relationships. We also know that they get embroiled in a case and their egos get the better of them. How this unfolds is central to the film, with characters who have interesting personalities.
