The Secret to Doctor Doom's Power In Avengers: Doomsday Might Be A Secret Marvel Character
Could A Character From Marvel Comics Be The Key To Doctor Doom’s God-Like Power?

Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom is all set to become one of the biggest threats in Avengers: Doomsday. But we all know he’s not just going to be an ordinary supervillain. We have already seen a glimpse of his god-like power in the trailer, and we’ll see how Doctor Doom can alter reality, control every power, and rule over the Multiverse.

But you’ll be surprised to know that Doom didn’t achieve this transformation all alone using his powers. The 2015 Secret Wars storyline revealed that there’s one Marvel character who played a crucial role in giving him god-like power.

That Marvel character is none other than the Molecule Man. Doomsday is already following the comics when it comes to incursions and collapsing timelines to show Doom’s rise to power, so introducing Molecule Man alongside Doctor Doom only seems fitting.

Who is Molecule Man and What Are His Powers?

According to Fantastic Four #20, the Molecule Man is Owen Reece, whom we first met in 1963. Initially, he is just a lab technician whose life nearly changed when an accelerator tore through the fabric of space-time, exposing him to cosmic energy. As a result, he received extraordinary powers from the Beyonders.

Initially, he thought he could only manipulate matter at a molecular level, but eventually, he could create force fields, open portals, unleash destructive energy, and even alter reality. While he was clearly struggling, Doctor Doom recognized the ultimate potential and tried his best to exploit him. Eventually, they went on to share a complicated relationship.

When Doom discovered that the Beyonders had created a version of the Molecule Man in every universe to destroy reality, they both teamed up to destroy Reece’s alternate versions. And ultimately, Doom stole the Beyonders’ extraordinary powers with Molecule Man’s help.

Doom then went on to create the Battleworld from the fragments of the destroyed realities and crowned himself as the God Emperor Doom. But most of Doom’s godhood depended on Reece and that’s why he kept him hidden. But during the final events of Secret Wars, seeing Miles Morales’ kindness, Reece ultimately transferred Beyonders’ power from Doom to Reed and helped Mister Fantastic to rebuild the multiverse, ending Doom’s reign.

So, if Marvel plans to give Doctor Doom god-like powers in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, which seems evident from the trailer, then bringing in the Molecule Man seems only reasonable. More importantly, Molecule Man’s presence could explain how Doctor Doom acquires enough power without simply making him unstoppable.
