Jailer 2 has emerged as an industry hit and is still going strong at the box office. Recently, in India, it became the first Kollywood film to reach the 450 crore net milestone, underscoring its glorious run in the domestic market. Now, the latest we have learned is that the magnum opus has surpassed 3.1 crore footfalls nationwide, warranting big celebrations. Jailer 2 enjoys a tremendous run at the Indian box office
Backed by solid pre-release buzz and favorable audience reactions, the Jailer sequel is doing wonders. It kicked off its run with a staggering 59.7 crore net, registering a huge 37.47 lakh footfalls. Yes, you read that right! The film sold 37.47 lakh tickets on its opening day and continued its strong run in the days that followed.
By the end of the third Monday, day 19, Jailer 2 has recorded approximately 3.12 crore footfalls at the Indian box office. This is a very impressive surge compared to its predecessor, Jailer, which reportedly sold 2.65 crore+ tickets during its lifetime run.

Jailer 2 is Rajinikanth’s 2nd most-watched film ever!
With 3.12 crore footfalls in 19 days, Jailer 2 is now Rajinikanth’s second most-watched film (as main lead) at the Indian box office. 2.0, which was released in 2018, still remains unbeaten at the top. For those who don’t know, 2.0 earned a whopping 407.05 crore net and sold around 4.25 crore tickets during its run.
With 4.25 crore footfalls, 2.0 is at the top and is expected to stay there for a long time, as not just Jailer 2 but even any other biggie in the coming years are unlikely to challenge those numbers.
Up next, Rajinikanth has Dharman and an untitled film along with Kamal Haasan. While both are big films, they are unlikely to even come close to 2.0, as the latter had a pan-India appeal due to the inclusion of Akshay Kumar.
