Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan Box Office: Ayushmann Khurrana starrer surpassed expectations with his gay rom-com on the first day at the box office. The film also starring Jitendra Kumar in lead was expected to witness a huge jump on Saturday, but unfortunately, the growth remained limited.
The film enjoyed the Mahashivratri holiday across the country on its opening day, and that helped witness footfalls in larger numbers. However, it was the second day when the real test began, given the fact that the word of mouth has been largely mixed.
As per the early trends flowing in, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan has added collections in the range of 10.50-11.50 crores. Of course, it is a sign of relief as the film managed an upward trend, but the growth remained limited. All eyes are now on Sunday, and that will largely decide the fate of its lifetime run.
The film has clashed at the box office with Vicky Kaushal’s horror flick, Bhoot: Part One – The Haunted Ship. The good thing here is that SMZS is the first choice of the audience, and in that matter, there’s nothing to worry about.
Meanwhile, American President Donald Trump lauded the Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan on Friday. President Trump’s praise for the film came in the wake of a tweet posted by human rights campaigner and LGBTQ+ activist Peter Tatchell’s social media post praising the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer.
“A new #Bollywood rom-com featuring a gay romance is hoping to win over older people, following the decriminalisation of homosexuality. Hurrah!” tweeted @PeterTatchell.
To this, @realDonaldTrump tweeted: “Great!”
