March 2024 Box Office Expectations: Surprisingly Single 100 Crore Film, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sidharth Malhotra To Lead A Disappointing Month Despite 12 Hindi Releases?

The year 2024 has offered us 8 Hindi films in the theaters, and now March 2024 is ready with as many as 12 Hindi releases in the theater. However, are these 12 films a hope for a March 2024 box office boom? Certainly not. However, the month definitely has a mixed bag with some unpredictable and dicey moves.

The only thing that might be certain is that March 2024 will perform better than March 2023 at the box office. Last year, the films released in the third month earned a total of 260.59 crores, and this month, the 12 films in total are targetting somewhere around the same number, but only in one condition – if word of mouth acts like a charm for some films.

In February as well, Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya was certainly expected to perform differently than it did. But the lightheaded comedy entertained the audiences and continues to do so, putting up hope for others this month as well.

1. Laapata Ladies

• Release Date: March 1, 2024
• Expectations: 8-10 crore
• Starcast: Nitanshi Goel, Sparsh Shrivastava, Savita Malviya

USP: The film’s unique selling point is its director, Kiran Rao. However, the trailer has been received well, and it might shell out a few more crores if word of mouth is good.

2. Dange

• Release Date: March 1, 2024
• Expectations: 1-2 crore
• Starcast: Harshvardhan Rane, Ehan Bhat, T.J. Bhanu

USP: Helmed by Bejoy Nambiar, this bilingual does not seem to have any impact till now. However, one never knows with South Indian films.

3. Operation Valentine

• Release Date: March 1, 2024
• Expectations: 5-8 crore
• Starcast: Varun Tej, Manushi Chhillar

USP: Salman Khan has introduced this bilingual film in Hindi, and it is based on Pulwama Attack. And we all know how nationalistic films if done right, might work like a charm.

4. Kaagaz 2

• Release Date: March 1, 2024
• Expectations: 8-12 crore
• Starcast: Satish Kaushik, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Shruti Kalra, Darshan Kumar, Aniruddh Dave

USP: While this is late actor Satish Kaushik‘s one of the last few theatrical releases, the film might have received well since the first part starring Pankaj Tripathi that dropped on OTT worked wonders.

5. Shaitaan

• Release Date: March 8, 2024
• Expectations: 60-80 crore
• Starcast: Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, Jyothika

USP: Helmed by Vikas Bahl, the film is a supernatural horror thriller based on superstitious beliefs and the so-called ‘Oopari Pher.’ The film might have a limited impact. But a good word of mouth might turn the tables like a black magic trick.

6. Tera Kya Hoga Lovely

• Release Date: March 8, 2024
• Expectations: Negligible
• Starcast: Randeep Hooda, Ileana D’Cruz, Karan Kundrra

USP: The film is a much-delayed release that might not have much impact.

7. Yodha

• Release Date: March 15, 2024
• Expectations: 40-60 crore
• Starcast: Sidharth Malhotra, Raashii Khanna, Disha Patani

USP: The promos of the aerial action film are being received well, but considering the love audiences have been showering on action films and the promising promos of this one-of-a-kind aerial action film, things might swiftly incline to the brighter side real soon once the film releases.

8. Bastar: The Naxal Story

• Release Date: March 15, 2024
• Expectations: 40-60 crore
• Starcast: Adah Sharma, Shilpa Shukla, Yashpal Sharma

USP: Since The Kerala Story effect is still very fresh due to its recent OTT release, Bastar’s Naxal might hit differently. And if it does, it might beat the clash with Siddharth Malhotra’s Yodha and touch the 100-crore mark.

9. Madgaon Express

• Release Date: March 22, 2024
• Expectations: Negligible
• Starcast: Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Nora Fatehi

USP: Not much is known about Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut as of now, and hence, any prediction would be unnecessary and unfair.

10. Swatantrya Veer Savarkar

Release Date: March 22, 2024
Expectations: 10-15 crore
Starcast: Randeep Hooda, Ankita Lokhande, Amit Sial

USP: Ankita Lokhande fans might want to see her on the silver screen, but not much seems bright for the Marathi-Hindi bilingual film.

11. Crew

• Release Date: March 29, 2024
• Expectations: 30-50 crore
• Starcast: Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu, Kriti Sanon

USP: Despite a brilliant trailer, the film might not take off as brilliantly, thanks to the IPL season.

12. Do Aur Do Pyaar – Under 5 crore

• Release Date: March 29, 2024
• Expectations: Under 5 crore
• Starcast: Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz, Sendhil Ramamurthy

USP: Vidya Balan might be the catching point, but still, nothing might be enough to bring the film to maximum audiences.
