With the kind of start that Fan had taken on Friday, all that the film had to do was hold on to good collections on Saturday. Fan did well to register 15.40 crore on its second day. The film has now collected 34.60 crore in two days.

Of course, it would have been great for the film had the same levels as Friday been maintained. For a Shahrukh Khan film, it is always expected that at least over the weekend it would show good growth. However, this is not the kind of film that would go on to do bumper business and bring on audiences in horde, especially after looking at the final product. Moreover, as was mentioned in this column yesterday too, the word of mouth is not universal for the film. Though no one has disliked the film per se, it is not generating a ‘wow’ reaction either.

The Maneesh Sharma film is anticipating good response from a target segment of audience and that needs to ensure that collections today go past 20 crore. That is a bare minimum requirement for Fan to foresee a good week ahead.

Note: All collections as per production and distributor sources

  1. They expected the movie to open at 23-25 crore but it opened with 19.70 crore. And that too with 3500 screens domestic screens.

Now on second day it falls again to 17 crores. The main websites like boxdofficeindia.com (which has given a rough estimate only, and boxofficecapsule.com )are withholding the second days big drop in collections, and have not yet reported the total second days actual domestic collection even till 1 pm, which they normally do for most movies especially superstar movies. No updates at all.

Has the movie flopped already? Then it will be the first big flop for a Khan from the Khan triumvirate.
