Taxi No. 9211 still remains to be one of the most underrated films of Bollywood. Even though the film was a moderate success, the performance by John Abraham and Nana Patekar are unforgettable.
Directed by Milan Luthria, the film showcased a ‘tit for tat’ revenge game between a spoilt son of a businessman (John Abraham) and eccentric taxi driver (Nana Patekar). It’s far away from a usual comedy or we can simply describe it as ‘comedy cum thriller’. The crisp screenplay and dialogues too deserve a kudos.
In all, Taxi No. 9211 is a rollercoaster ride, but how many of you know that it’s inspired by Ben Affleck and Samuel L. Jackson starrer Changing Lanes? Yes, it’s true, the film has a very much similar plot and characters to 2002 Hollywood release. While some call it as an unofficial remake, others call it as loosely inspired.

Speaking more of Changing Lanes, the film is a thriller which revolves around Wall street lawyer (Ben Affleck) and middle-aged insurance salesman (Samuel L. Jackson). If given a watch, one can instantly find that John plays Affleck like character and Nana being similar to Jackson.
Directed by Roger Michell, Changing Lanes too was a box office success.
Meanwhile, post Taxi No. 9211’s success, Nana Patekar and John Abraham have collaborated twice with Hattrick (2007) and Welcome Back (2015). Also, there were rumours of 9211’s sequel during the past few years. We hope it comes true.
