Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone are ready to recreate the big-screen magic yet again with their upcoming magnum opus King. Recently, some pictures and videos from the shoot leaked and went viral. Reportedly, Shah Rukh and Deepika were shooting for a song, as per leaked pictures and videos, and, as usual, they looked sizzling. With a strong buzz all over the internet, one thing is for sure: the duo is ready to deliver another box office monster!
Before the upcoming action thriller, the two stars have collaborated four times, and none of their films together has failed. In fact, every film has been a box-office success. Apart from the lifetime collections, the opening-day collections of their movies together have grabbed attention for their magnitude. Keeping aside Om Shanti Om, all their films have pulled off record starts at the Indian box office.

After Om Shanti Om, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone collaborated on Chennai Express. Released in 2013, it opened to 33.1 crore net, a record opening for a Bollywood film at the time. Their third collaboration, Happy New Year, was released in 2014. It scored a massive 44.97 crore net at the Indian box office on day 1, again the biggest Bollywood opening back in the day.

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone paired up for the fourth time in Pathaan. Released in 2023, it opened at a staggering 57 crore net, setting a record opening for Bollywood at the time. So, overall, the duo has delivered a Bollywood record opening three times in a row. However, with King, the streak is likely to be broken.
The streak of record openings to be broken with King
King is scheduled to release on December 24, 2026, thus benefiting from the Christmas vacation. Undoubtedly, it will open big at the Indian box office, but the record opening isn’t possible this time. Currently, Dhurandhar 2 is the biggest Bollywood opener with 145 crore net. So, to register the record Bollywood opening, it must overtake Dhurandhar 2’s day 1 collection, which is not at all possible. So, after three record openers, the duo of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone won’t be able to repeat the feat this time.
