Around two years back when Bajirao Mastani released, the film had collected 184 crore in its lifetime at the box office. Now Padmaavat is in line to go past this number today, which is just its tenth day in the running. This is stunning by all means since just about no one saw this coming.

The film collected 10 crore more on its second Friday which has now elevated its overall total to 176.50 crore. While the lifetime number of Bang Bang [181 crore] has already been crossed as you read this, it is time for bigger glories by the night shows.

Box Office - Padmaavat is on a record breaking journey, keeps surpassing milestones in second week too
Box Office: Padmaavat Is On A Record Breaking Journey; Keeps Surpassing Milestones In 2nd Week Too

Basically, the film would be the highest grosser ever for Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ranveer Singh today itself and they could well be readying themselves to pop the champagne. As for Deepika Padukone, she would be happy to see records set by Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani [188.92 crore], Happy New Year [205 crore] and Chennai Express [227 crore] turn into history before the second week is through.

While quite a few records are getting dusted due to this Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film going berserk at the Box Office, one movie that Padmaavat is targeting next is Dhoom 3 which concluded at the lifetime total of 284 crore. It is a tough milestone for sure and one that would keep this journey of Padmaavat quite interesting.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources

  1. Based on reports of total cost of the movie which is approx 225 Crores including P& A ….it needs to collect over 400 cr to be called a hit….otherwise collections in the region of 230 Cr will be declared average despite its huge collections…..next week all screens will be booked for aiyaari and Padman
