Tiger Shroff has a busy 2020. The actor, who last featured in Baaghi 3 at the start of this year, is all set to play a sportsperson soon. The project in discussion is Vikas Bahl’s upcoming sports drama, Ganpat. In this film, Shroff will essay the role of a boxer – a first for him.
While the actor was all set to begin working on the Hindi remake of Rambo, as per latest reports, this sports film may be the first film he shoots for post the lockdown.
As per a report in Mumbai Mirror, a source told the publication, “Ganpat is essentially a sports drama set in Mumbai with Tiger playing a boxer for the first time. Vikas Bahl has been working on the script for a while now and Tiger, who loves MMA, wrestling and boxing, was looking to do a film in this space. When Vikas narrated the script to him, it was an instant ‘yes’ from Tiger Shroff.”
Tiger Shroff has already started prepping for the role while the lockdown is still on. He’s working on his boxing skills, as the film will have many ring sequences. He is also working out to look the part of a sportsman.
Ganpat is a two-part franchise and will feature international boxers. The report also states that the film is an underdog story with an emotional father-son relationship at its core. The search for the senior actor is still on.
The source added, “Ganpat will be a two-film franchise, tracing the journey of Ganpat from a Mumbai boy to a world class boxer. Though it’s an action-packed film, at its core it’s an underdog story like Super 30, with an emotional father-son subplot. The search is on for a senior actor to play Tiger’s onscreen father.”
On the work front, Tiger Shroff has a full plate. Besides playing a boxer in Ganpat, he will also play the lead role in the sequel of his debut movie Heropanti. Heropanti 2 will be directed by Ahmed Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. Post these two films, Shroff will begin working on the Indian remake of Sylvester Stallone starrer Rambo. Rohit Dhawan will direct this film.
