Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s spy drama Alpha is all set to begin streaming. After a rather disappointing run in theatres, the film will now be available to a larger audience. The film was the first in the YRF spy universe to be led by female leads. Even though the spy universe had introduced female spies previously, Alpha is the first to be helmed by one.
The Alia Bhatt-starrer was released in theaters on July 3. It was released in theatres after many delays. There was widespread negativity around the film due to its repeated delays. Eventually, the film did not perform well at the box office despite a decent opening-day number.
Alpha Plot
The story begins right after the 1999 Kargil War. Colonel Fateh Singh Lakhawat (Bobby Deol), with Lieutenant Colonel Vikrant Kaul (Anil Kapoor), starts a covert Indian Army super-soldier project called Alpha. After successful trials, the government approves the program. However, Vikrant secretly uses the experimental serum on his pregnant wife Janaki, who suffers from congenital heart disease. While it temporarily helps Janaki’s health, it proves fatal in the long term. She dies while giving birth to twin daughters, Sita and Janaki.

Sita (Alia Bhatt) inherits the serum while in her mother’s womb. This leads to Fateh abducting little Sita and raising her at a secret facility as part of the Alpha program. Meanwhile, Vikrant believes that both Janaki and his daughter have died, while Durga (Sharvari) grows up unaware of her sister.
The story then moves over 20 years ahead, where a fully trained Sita is killing the scientists and military officials involved in Project Alpha before destroying Fateh’s facility. Her actions bring her to the attention of R&AW chief Vikrant, who eventually discovers that she is his biological daughter. He also reunites with Durga, who learns about her sister.
The rest of the story centers around the two sisters and how they learn the truth about their birth and the events that followed.
Alpha Cast, Crew & Release Date
The film stars Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor in pivotal roles. It also has cameos by Hrithik Roshan and Dia Mirza. Hrithik returns as Agent Kabir, his popular character from the War franchise of the spy universe. Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film was written by Uday Chopra, Ishita Moitra, and Shridhar Raghavan. The film’s music was composed by Abeer Pandit and Rohansh Pandit, and the cinematography was handled by Rubais.
Alpha will be available to stream on Netflix from August 28.
