India’s Got Latent S2 Ep 6 Review Ft. Varun Dhawan: Best Episode Of Samay Raina’s Show! ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

India’s Got Latent has built its entire identity on one gamble: throw a sporting enough contestant into Samay Raina’s no-filter chaos and see if they can survive it. But guess what makes it better? When a celebrity can take a joke on themselves! While it is easy for comedians to take jibes at each other in such roast shows, Varun Dhawan just offered notes on how celebrities should take jokes on themselves! Appearing on the sixth episode, exclusively streaming on Netflix, the show got its best episodes ever!

This was an episode in which a Bollywood star finally matched Samay Raina punch for punch, rather than just absorbing the hits. Varun Dhawan did not play it safe, did not play a pricey celeb, and by the end, has essentially become one of the comedians instead of being a star! That’s the difference between a good celebrity appearance and the best episode of the season.

Breaking from the India’s Got Latent’s usual dual-platform format, Netflix dropped this one as a standalone exclusive – a signal in itself that the platform saw star-power potential in pairing Varun Dhawan with Samay Raina, along with Medha Shankr, Sharon Verma, and Nishant Tanwar. Samay’s rumored relationship with Medha added a layer of punches as he pointed out to Varun Dhawan – ‘Hamara hi rumor naa ud jaaye!’

What separates this episode from India’s Got Latent‘s usual guest formula is the pacing of the jokes that did not look scripted at all. Within minutes, Nishant Tanwar, Sharon Varma, and Varun Dhawan took jibes at Varun’s acting skills, and Varun turns it back, taking digs at Samay. A clear understanding of how to make a joke and take a joke!

Nobody here is protecting their ego, and every joke immediately invites a counter-joke. The episode’s funniest stretch is a numbers game where a contestant asks the panel to pick between one and five. Meanwhile, Samay Raina also takes digs at Varun Dhawan‘s own brand.

Sharon Verma’s dig at Varun Dhawan’s inception reference for Dilwale is followed by Samay Raina with a cheeky reframe of Varun’s last film, Border 2. A nepotism and struggle punchline turned one of the most hilarious moments of the episode! Varun also got a rare unscripted moment of sincerity amid the chaos, explaining about the much-memed sarcastic remark of his: Dilwale is an Inception joke. He actually clears the air – explaining it was intended as a joke that didn’t land the way he meant it to.

India’s Got Latenst S2 Episode 6 works because Varun Dhawan refuses to be a punching bag; he communicates and is an active participant on the panel! He takes every joke thrown at him and immediately throws one back, and that reciprocity is exactly what elevates a good celebrity panelist on such a comedy show! Honestly, this is Varun Dhawan’s best comic appearance in a non-filmy setup!
