The Bachelor’s host, Jesse Palmer, is a former footballer and a sports commentator. He has a deeper connection with the Bachelor world than being its host. His job as the famous reality show’s host has earned him a more affluent fan base. After 20 years of hosting the franchise, including the spin-offs in the Bachelor Nation, he stepped in as the show’s host after Chris Harrison’s exit.

Jesse’s Early Life & Football Career

Palmer was raised in Canada by Bill Palmer and Susan. His father played for the Ottawa Rough Riders for seven years. In contrast, his mother was an established fashion and print model who co-founded the Barrett Palmer Models and was the former owner of the ITM: International Top Models. It is now known as the MIM Model International Management. Jesse attended the University of Florida and got in through his athletic scholarship.

Before becoming The Bachelor’s host, Jesse Palmer was a prominent NFL player. The New York Giants selected him in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL Draft. He played for the Giants from 2001 but was cut off before the 2005 season began. He was a Giants quarterback and backup behind Kerry Collins for most of his career. He was reportedly the second Canadian to start as a quarterback in the NFL.

After leaving the NFL, the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League signed him to their developmental roster. He retired from the CFL before the 2007 season even began and pursued his career in broadcasting.

Palmer & The Bachelor

Before being the show’s host, Jesse Palmer was a Bachelor on the show. He led The Bachelor Season 5, which aired in 2004. He was 25 years old then. His season is still remembered because of Jesse’s mishap during the first rose ceremony. He wanted to give the rose to the contestant, Karen, but he gave it to Katie. He remembered the incident on the Jennifer Hudson Show last year and said, “I was staring at Karen, offering her the rose, and I said, ‘Katie,’ and then in my peripheral vision, another woman started walking, and that’s when I thought to myself, ‘Damn it, I screwed that up.'” For the unversed, the contestant, Jessica Bowlin, a law student, won Jesse Palmer’s Season 5 of The Bachelor.

Palmer’s The Bachelor salary –

Jesse returned to The Bachelor to host Season 26 in 2022 and is still doing a commendable job. He also hosted the Season 19 of The Bachelorette in 2022. In 2014, Palmer stepped in to host Bachelor in Paradise Season 8. According to Sports Yahoo’s report, the former host, Chris Harrison, made $2.6 million per season, and one would think that Jesse would be getting a similar figure, but they are wrong. Palmer’s salary for hosting The Bachelor has yet to be revealed, but he is reportedly getting less than Harrison.

However, Jesse himself was a former Bachelor, and it reportedly pays over $100K.

Other shows hosted by Palmer –

Besides The Bachelor, he has hosted other shows like Bakeaway Camp, Food Truck Face-Off, The Ultimate Surfer Holiday Baking Championship, and more.

Jesse has worked with esteemed networks like Fox, ESPN, NFL Network, ABC, and SEC Network in his broadcasting career. He also guest starred in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
