After many delays, Jason Sanjay has finally released his directorial debut, Sigma, in theaters. The young director is the son of former actor and current Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay. Sigma, starring Sundeep Kishan, hit theaters on October 2, capitalizing on the long holiday weekend. The Tamil film clashed with Vijay Sethupathi’s Baththa and Nivin Pauly-Soori’s Yezhu Kadal Yezhu Malai. Sigma’s opening-day collection has won the day-1 clash at the Kollywood box office.
How Much Did Sigma Earn At The Box Office On Opening Day?
There was a natural curiosity to see the film made by the son of one of Tamil Nadu’s biggest superstars. Jason Sanjay has been actively promoting his latest film, giving interviews and attending events in different cities. The curiosity led to a decent opening at the box office. The film earned 2.35 crore net in India, which is a good opening day for a small-budget film. However, the film has e top received strong word of mouth to maintain momentum at the box office.
Sundeep Kishan Misses Out On Setting New Record
Meanwhile, Sigma has marked the second-highest opening day collection for Sundeep Kishan as a solo lead. His highest-grossing Tamil film as a solo lead is still held by Michael. The film had earned 2.65 crore net at the domestic box office. Sigma was expected to surpass Michael and set a new record for Sundeep Kishan’s opening-day collection. Albeit it fell short of the 30 lakh mark to achieve the milestone.
