2024 has turned out to be good so far for the Malayalam film industry, as within the first two months, we witnessed four commercially successful films. Out of them is Premalu, which is so far the highest-grossing Mollywood release in 2024. Now, in the latest development at the worldwide box office, it has emerged as the 9th highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time by surpassing Premam. Keep reading to know more!
In India, the Girish A.D. directorial was released on 9 February, and globally, it arrived on 15 February. Made on a very low budget, the film enjoyed highly positive reviews from critics and was praised for its light-hearted and clean romantic comedy. Along with such a positive reception, the film even saw favorable reactions coming in from the audience. As a result, a super-steady trend, along with regular jumps, was witnessed in the theatrical run.
Worldwide box office run in 22 days
Coming to the latest box office collection update, Premalu has done a terrific business of 38.50 crores net at the Indian box office in 22 days. It equals 45.43 crores gross. In the overseas market, the mark of 30 crores gross has been reached, and the current collection stands at the same number. Combining both Indian and overseas gross, the worldwide box office stands at a whopping 75.43 crores gross.

Premalu becomes Mollywood’s 9th highest-grosser
With this, Premalu is already the highest-grossing Mollywood film of 2024 and is expected to be surpassed by Manjummel Boys in the next few days. Speaking about the list of highest-grossing Malayalam films of all time, it stands in the 9th position by pushing Premam in the 10th position.
