Khalifa Box Office Collection Day 7: Loses 33% Shows, Trails Toxic In Home State On Onam

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Khalifa has seen a dip in collection since day 2. The film was released as part of the season’s Onam releases. With largely negative reviews, the film failed to attract the audience. This, combined with the success of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, caused Khalifa to lose out at the box office. However, the big blow came when Khalifa could not secure a boost on Thiruvonam day.

How Much Did Khalifa Earn In 7 Days At The Box Office?

On Wednesday, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s film earned 1.35 crore net in India. It was the Thiruvonam holiday in the state, and a massive boost in collections was expected. While Bethlehem Kudumba Unit benefited from the holiday, Khalifa stayed below average. The net total for the film stands at 15.37 crore after 7 days. The gross collection stands at 18.13 crore. Overseas, the film collected 0.50 Cr on Day 7, taking its total overseas gross to 18.25 crore so far. The worldwide collection comes to 36.38 crore.

Khalifa Loses To Toxic In Kerala

The Vysakh directorial, which also features cameos by Mohanlal and Tovino Thomas, could not capitalize on the Onam holiday. On Wednesday, the box office saw a new competition with the release of the much-anticipated film Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown Ups. Khalia stayed behind Toxic even in their home state in Kerala. The Yash-starrer earned 2.1 crore gross in the state, while Khalifa earned 1.5 crore gross.

Directed by Vysakh, Khalifa reunites the filmmaker with Prithviraj for the first time since Pokkiriraja (2011). The film was considered a strong contender for an Onam release. However, the film is headed for a box office disappointment and may end up as Prithviraj’s third consecutive failure.
