Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 might have become Kollywood’s industry hit, but it doesn’t seem to be a leggy affair, and the reasons are genuine. It has already been consumed by a significant number of moviegoers, and with the OTT release around the corner, the pace has naturally slowed. Another major reason is that the release of Ramayana, Scene, and other films has impacted its show count brutally. As a result, it dropped below 1 crore net at the Indian box office on its fourth Friday, day 23.

How much did Jailer 2 earn at the Indian box office in 23 days?

On its third Wednesday, day 21, the Kollywood action-comedy thriller had 8,000 shows, which dropped to 619 on its fourth Friday, day 23. It’s a decline of a massive 7,381 shows, mainly due to Ramayana, Scene, and Mookuthi Amman 2. The impact was evident in collections, as the biggie scored just 60 lakh yesterday. Overall, it stands at a staggering 467.9 crore net at the Indian box office. It equals 552.14 crore gross.

Jailer was a blockbuster success with good legs. Since it wasn’t as front-loaded as Jailer 2, it kept attracting footfall over a long period. It managed to register an impressive streak of scoring 1 crore net or more in daily collections for 28 days straight. However, in the case of the sequel, the streak was broken on the 23rd day. Of course, that doesn’t take away anything from the historic success the film has witnessed.

Jailer 2 to wrap up as the 15th highest-grossing Indian film globally

As mentioned above, Jailer 2 has grossed 552.14 crore in India. Overseas, it is on the verge of ending its run and currently stands at a huge 274.6 crore gross. Overall, the film has grossed a colossal 826.74 crore at the worldwide box office. With this sum, it is currently the 16th highest-grossing Indian film globally. Today, it is all set to beat Chhaava (827.06 crore) to claim the 15th spot. Moving any further isn’t possible, as Kantara Chapter 1 (845.53 crore) is out of reach.
