The Tamil film Mookuthi Amman 2 marked Nayanthara’s fifth release of the year. This was also her second Kollywood film of the year. Here, she plays the solo lead as a goddess, bringing back the character she portrayed in the 2020 film, Mookuthi Amman. While the first part, released on OTT, did well, the second part found itself sandwiched between other major releases.

Nayanthara’s fifth film of the year clashed with Suriya’s Scene at the Kollywood box office. At the same time, the Bollywood film Ramayana has been dominating in several regions in India. Due to this crowded release weekend, Nayanthara’s fantasy film took a hit.

How Much Did Mookuthi Amman 2 Earn At The Box Office On Opening Day?

The fantasy film had a slow start when its advance bookings began two days before its release. While Nayanthara‘s film wrapped up its advance bookings at 1.48 crore, it did not see significant growth on the day of release. The film earned 1.88 crore net in India on its opening day. This brings the film’s India gross total to 2.22 crore.

Marks Nayanthara’s Second-Lowest Opening Of 2026

The recent release has only managed to surpass the opening-day collection of Nayanthara’s Hi. The film, co-starring Kavin, earned 1.25 crore on Day 1. Meanwhile, Nayanthara had some of the biggest films of the year, including Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, Patriot and Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups. All these films had stellar openings at the box office.

Take a look at the opening-day collections of Nayanthara’s films of 2026 (India net):
