Nayanthara has had a great year at the movies, with four releases so far. And she is far from done. The Lady Superstar has done four films in four different languages in 2026. Three out of the four have been pan-India spectacles featuring the biggest superstars of their respective industries. Now, all eyes are on her upcoming Diwali release, Mookuthi Amman 2, and whether it can help her achieve a major box-office milestone.

Nayanthara’s Year So Far

The actress began the year with the Telugu film Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, starring Chiranjeevi. The film was a massive hit, bringing in 300 crore worldwide. She then followed it up with the Malayalam film Patriot, starring Mammootty and Mohanlal. Despite the hype around it, the film wrapped up its global run with 80.53 crore.

She next had the year’s most hyped release, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups. The star-studded cast of the film also included Yash, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria. The hype led to a massive 100-plus crore opening, but the film crashed after negative reviews. However, it wrapped up its worldwide run at 333.49 crore. She then had the breezy Tamil romantic film Hi, which earned 15.1 crore globally.

Nayanthara’s 2026 Films And Their Worldwide Collections

  • Hi – 15.1 crore
  • Patriot – 80.53 crore
  • Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu – 300.79 crore
  • Toxic – 333.49 crore

Total – 729.91 crore

Can Mookuthi Amman 2 Help Nayanthara Achieve A 750 Crore Total?

The actress is just 20 crore away from achieving the 750 crore milestone at the box office. While Mookuthi Amman, released in 2020, was a hit, it was a direct-to-digital release. Its box-office numbers cannot be used as a reference. That said, Nayanthara‘s character was much loved, and the film does benefit from a sequel.

However, Mookuthi Amman 2 is directly clashing with Suriya’s Tamil film Scene, which also stars Nazriya Nazim and Naslen. Suriya has had a great year at the box office so far and is expected to make a strong opening with Scene as well. This could affect Mookuthi Amman 2’s opening day, and the film will have to rely on strong word-of-mouth.

However, the film also benefits from a sequel, with a solid fan following for the original. The actress may be looking at a 5–6 crore opening day, which would be a great start for the film. If it maintains that pace, the film can definitely help the actress reach the 750-crore milestone.

Additionally, the pan-India film Ramayana: Part 1 will also be released in theatres during the same weekend. The film will also be in the race for screens during the Diwali weekend.

More About Mookuthi Amman 2

The first part of the film, directed by RJ Balaji, was a fantasy comedy. It revolved around a news anchor collaborating with the titular goddess to expose a godman’s fraud. The second part was directed by Sundar C, who co-wrote the film with Venkat Raghavan.

The film follows the story of a queen who sacrifices herself to save her son, the prince, from invading enemies. Mookuthi Amman returns to save the child and confronts a mysterious woman who represents a new evil power.
