Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game is now less than 24 hours away from release. The Malayalam film was earlier scheduled to release in theaters for Onam. However, the makers decided to avoid a three-way clash at the box office and postponed the release for a better window. What makes the film even more special is that it marks Dulquer Salmaan’s return to Malayalam cinema after 3 years. His last Malayalam film was the disastrous King of Kotha.

I’m Game Day 1 Advance

Dulquer Salmaan‘s upcoming film has not managed to achieve impressive advance numbers at the box office. With its solo release, the film was expected to make a strong start at the box office. However, the film has only collected 2.5 crore worldwide as of Wednesday morning. In Kerala, the film has reportedly crossed 1.2 crore gross in pre-sales from 1200 shows.

Advance bookings for I’m Game opened only on Tuesday evening, less than 2 days before its grand theatrical release. Apart from that, the postponement of the film has also caused a lack of enthusiasm around the film. Many shows are yet to open, and the advance is likely to pick up the pace on Wednesday evening.

Can I’m Game Become Dulquer Salmaan’s Biggest Opener?

Dulquer Salmaan is fondly called the Prince Of Mollywood. However, the Telugu drama Lucky Baskhar holds the record for the actor’s biggest opening at the box office. The film earned 7.35 crore at the box office on its release day. Therefore, Dulquer’s next film needs to aim for and surpass that big number.

Take a look at the opening day collection of Dulquer Salmaan’s post-COVID releases (highest to lowest):

  1. Lucky Baskhar – 7.35 crores
  2. King Of Kotha – 6.85 crores
  3. Kurup – 5.6 crores
  4. Kaantha – 4.1 crores
  5. Chup – 3.06 crores
  6. Sita Ramam – 2.85 crores
  7. Hey Sinamika – 85 lakh

More About I’m Game

Nahas Hidhayath has directed the upcoming film. The director is known for RDX, which surprised everyone at the box office with its stylized filmmaking and gripping narrative. The film earned a gross of 84 crore worldwide, proving to be a massive hit. Dulquer Salmaan has been very convincing while headlining stylized mass actioners, and it will be interesting to see how the film performs. I’m Game also marks Dulquer’s 40th film and pairs him with Kayadu Lohar for the first time.
