All thanks to Cinema Lovers Day, Hrithik Roshan-led magnum opus Fighter got a boost on its fifth Friday, and the momentum again continued on Saturday. Even though the collection was below the 1 crore mark, it has taken the film closer to the milestone of 350 crore gross at the worldwide box office. Also, it’ll be surpassing Karan Johar’s highest-grossing film of all time today. Keep reading to know more!

Fighter underperforms in India

Director Siddharth Anand, coming fresh from the blockbuster success of Pathaan, set a lot of expectations of his aerial action extravaganza led by Hrithik Roshan. However, during the pre-release phase, it was clearly seen that the promotions were not up to the mark, and even the music didn’t turn out to be a chartbuster. As a result, the film couldn’t fulfill the mammoth expectations right from the opening day.

Even the genre of aerial action is still a bit niche in the Indian market, especially in the mass centers. So, even though the Fighter collection looks good in isolation, it is clearly underwhelming, considering the sky-high expectations and the heavy price tag attached to the biggie.

Status at the worldwide box office after 31 days

After a boost on Cinema Lovers Day, Fighter saw a slight drop yesterday, but still, a steady number came in. Including it, the collection stands at 211.70 crores net (estimates) at the Indian box office after 31 days. Its gross equals to 249.80 crores (estimates). In the overseas market, it is just away from hitting the 100 crore gross milestone, with the current total standing at 98.50 crore gross. This feat might be accomplished once the film gets a green signal for its release in the UAE.

Combining both Indian and overseas gross, the Hrithik Roshan starrer stands at 348.30 crores gross at the worldwide box office.

Set to beat Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani today!

For those who don’t know, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is Karan Johar’s highest-grossing film of all time (as a director). Its global total stands at 348.89 crores gross, including 180.89 crores gross (153.30 crores net) from India and 168 crores gross from overseas.

As we can see, the difference between Fighter’s 348.30 crore gross and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’s 348.89 crore gross is just 0.59 crore gross, and it will be comfortably covered today.
