Anupama Parameswaran and Tharun Bhascker’s new film, Crazy Kalyanam, seems to have been lost in the festive release weekend. The film hit theaters on October 16. It faced direct competition in the Telugu states from Ranabaali. Both films, in turn, faced competition from Rajinikanth’s magnum opus Jailer 2. Despite being a Tamil film, Jailer 2 has been dominating screens across all South Indian states. These releases have deeply affected Crazy Kalyanam, and its box-office numbers reflect the same.

How Much Did Crazy Kalyanam Earn At The Box Office On Day 1?

The film earned just 20 lakh net at the Indian box office on Day 1. This is a dismal opening for the film starring Anupama Parameswaran and Tharun Bhascker. There is no buzz around the film, and it is likely to get lost in the crowded weekend release slate. This marks the third release for Anupama Parameswaran this year, after Lockdown and Mareechika. Both films were disasters at the box office. With the latest release, Anupama is all set to face a hat-trick of disasters. Anupama’s last Telugu film, Mareechika, also had a low opening of 16 lakh.

Tharun Bhascker’s Second-Lowest Opening Of The Year

Meanwhile, Tharun Bhascker is a noted director who has largely played character roles in films. As a director, he has made films like Pelli Choopulu, Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi, and Keedaa Cola. However, earlier this year, he headlined the Telugu film Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi, a remake of the Malayalam film Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey. The film also opened at 20 lakh at the domestic box office. His second film as a lead actor has also ended up with the same fate at the box office.

Among The Lowest Openings In Tollywood In 2026

Crazy Kalyanam has registered one of the lowest openings for a Tollywood film this year. It has earned less than the recently released films Thella Kaagitham (70 lakh) and Band Melam (80 lakh).

Produced by Boosam Jagan Mohan Reddy under the Arrow Cinemas banner as Production No. 2, the film is directed by Badrappa Gajula and features music by Suresh Bobbili. It was released on October 16.
