Shah Rukh Khan, after making his fans wait for almost three years, is all set to make his grand return to the big screen with a big-budget magnum opus. His King, which also marks the big-screen debut of Suhana Khan, is scheduled to release on December 24. Given the terrific response to the announcement teaser and SRK’s look, the buzz is strong on the ground and is expected to score big at the Indian box office. With this film, the superstar is also looking forward to overtaking Akshay Kumar in the Koimoi Star Ranking!

What is Koimoi Star Ranking?

For the unversed, in Koimoi’s Star Power Index, aka Star Ranking, actors are allotted points based on their films (Bollywood/Hindi) in the coveted box-office clubs (based on Indian collections only), such as the 100 crore club, 200 crore club, and more. For example, 100 points are awarded for a film in the 100-crore club, and so on. 50 points each are given for a film in the top 10 overseas grossers of Bollywood.

What’s the current status of Shah Rukh Khan in the Koimoi Star Ranking?

With Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, Shah Rukh Khan witnessed a big surge in the Koimoi Star Ranking. At one point, he held the second spot, but due to an almost three-year gap, other stars have pushed him out of the top 3. At present, he holds the fourth spot with 2300 points. With King, he’s expected to make big gains in the points tally.

All set to overtake Akshay Kumar

As of now, Shah Rukh Khan has been placed below Akshay Kumar, who is in third place with 2400 points. So, if King enters the 100 crore club (net), which is likely to happen irrespective of word-of-mouth, Khan will easily overtake Akshay with 100 more points. Yes, both will share equal points at 2400, but Khan will be placed third since he has one 600-crore net grosser, while Akshay doesn’t.

Here’s the breakdown of Shah Rukh’s 2300 points:

  • 5 films in the 100 crore club (Ra.One, Don 2, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Dilwale, Raees) = 500 points
  • 3 films in the 200 crore club (Chennai Express, Happy New Year, Dunki) = 600 points
  • 1 film in the 500 crore club (Pathaan) = 500 points
  • 1 film in the 600 crore club (Jawan) = 600 points
  • 2 films in Bollywood’s top 10 overseas grossers (Pathaan, Jawan) = 100 points
