After Pathaan gave a smashing start for Bollywood last year, Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter was expected to do the same thing in 2024. Yes, the film pulled off a good total at the worldwide box office, but it’s still not considered up to the mark due to the film’s scale and budget. Nonetheless, it’s aiming to stay unbeaten for the next few months. Keep reading to know more!
The aerial action thriller marked the third collaboration between Hrithik and director Siddharth Anand after the success of Bang Bang and War. Also, as Sid was coming fresh from the blockbuster success of Pathaan, expectations were sky-high. Unfortunately, the film didn’t match that level during its theatrical run.
Fighter, as per the last update we covered, did a business of 250.75 crores gross (212.50 crores net) in India. In isolation, this total looks solid, but for a magnum opus like the Hrithik Roshan starrer, it’s a bit underwhelming. However, in the overseas market, it turned out to be a blockbuster by enjoying a business of 101 crores gross. Combining both, the collection stands at 351.75 crores gross at the worldwide box office.

Now, the first quarter of 2024 will be ending soon, but till now, none of the Bollywood releases have even gotten closer to Fighter’s number. There’s hope with Maidaan and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which are releasing in April, but practically speaking, neither film might be able to surpass the aforementioned collection.
Hrithik Roshan is an extremely popular face in the overseas market, and over the years, he has proved his dominance internationally. On the other hand, both Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn are known faces too, but they don’t possess a massive following in overseas. So, it’s logical to expect that the two Eid releases would be majorly dependent on the business in India. And even domestically, the clash factor will eat up a chunk of the business of each film. Thus, it seems that none of the Eid releases would challenge Fighter’s lifetime.
After two Eid biggies, there’s no such big Bollywood release that gives an impression of scoring 350 crores at the worldwide box office. Yes, there are releases like Sarfira and Chandu Champion, but they might not attain such a high score. It’s only safe to say that until Singham Again arrives in August, Fighter’s collection will remain unbeaten.
Singham Again is an event film, and despite a clash with Pushpa 2, it has the potential to enjoy a glorious run in India. Even in overseas, it might enjoy big numbers due to the popularity of the Singham franchise. So, till the Singham threequel arrives, let’s see if we get any surprise hits from Bollywood that topple Fighter.
