It came in as a happy news when Deepika Padukone announced the Hindi remake of The Intern with Rishi Kapoor. But seems like we will have to wait to see the two together on screen some more time. With Kapoor’s health taking a toll, the grapevine now has that Deepika and her co-producers are on a hunt to find a replacement for him and below are all the deets.
It was in January, that Deepika Padukone announced the Hindi remake of The Intern with her and Rishi Kapoor stepping into Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro’s shoes. But recently we saw Rishi Kapoor not keeping well as he had to make multiple hospital visits.
According to a report in SKJ Bollywood, the film will now have to wait or re-cast as Rishi Kapoor will not be getting back to work until he recovers. The producers including Deepika herself and Sunil Khetrapal have decided to re-cast the actor.
A source close to the development was quoted saying, “The other obvious choice for her mentor’s role was Amitabh Bachchan Saab. But Deepika has already done a fine film Piku with Bachchan Saab. She was very keen on working with Chintuji whom she has known and admired for a long time. Unfortunately with things turning out the way they have it seems unlikely that this untried casting combination will happen.”
There is no confirmation about the same from either sides yet. Besides this Deepika has a long lineup including Shakun Batra’s next, Mahabharat trilogy and ‘83.
