The year of 2019 has turned out to be one of the most lucrative one in terms of box office for India. There are several surprises like Uri: The Surgical Strike and Kabir Singh, which emerged as the huge blockbusters at the ticket windows. Hollywood’s Avengers: Endgame witnessed hype altogether of a different level and in terms of collections too, the biggie is still dominating here.
Leaving aside the collections, there were some movies which created a rage on the internet and just like every year, Google has released the list including the most searched movies in India for 2019.
At the first spot is Shahid Kapoor’s mega blockbuster Kabir Singh, which seems to be quite obvious given the kind of craze it saw amongst the movie buffs. It also garnered attention due to the controversies revolving around it.
The second spot is grabbed by magnum opus Avengers: Endgame and Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker is at third place. Captain Marvel, Super 30, Mission Mangal, Gully Boy, War, Housefull 4 and Uri: The Surgical Strike got placed at 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th position, respectively.
Contrary to its success, Kabir Singh was a hot topic of debate due to its bold content. Recently, Malayalam actor Parvathy, best known to Bollywood buffs as Irrfan Khan’s co-star in “Qarib Qarib Singlle”, expressed that the Shahid Kapoor-starrer and its Telugu original Arjun Reddy glorify violence against women while the recent Hollywood blockbuster Joker does not.
