After a long hiatus, John Abraham has returned to Hindi cinema with action-drama film, Vedaa, opposite Sharvari. The movie promises to be a high-octane action flick. As the actor is busy promoting his film, he recently opened up about the challenging phase of his career when he was sidelined by the industry.

John Abraham last appeared as the main antagonist in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan. Before that, the actor starred in the lead role in Satyameva Jayate in 2018. Reflecting on the four years he spent without work, he admitted that he took matters into his own hands and proved to the industry that he was more than just an action hero.

During an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, the actor was asked why he decided to become a producer. John Abraham said, “Because the movies I was doing and the movies I was watching, I was not happy (with them). I wanted to change things… Everybody’s life has an X and a Y axis. A Z-axis came into my life. Suddenly, people started seeing me as more than just a bulky guy. They began to believe that I had brains, too. They realised that I can make different kinds of films, like Vicky Donor, Parmanu, Batla House… The first defining point in my life was Jism, then Dhoom, and then when I became a producer.”

When asked if he is happy with his decision, Abraham admitted he is always happy and never insecure. He revealed that he hadn’t worked for four years before his movie Parmanu since “a lot of newcomers came into the industry.” The actor explained that he had been told, “I’m done, I’m finished,” but he kept working. Even when he’s free, he never stops working, the actor expressed, adding, “Just work hard, people will see your honesty.”

Furthermore, in the podcast, Abraham discussed his first film as a producer, Vicky Donor, revealing that it was a highly unconventional choice that shocked people. He shared that when he pitched this film to the studio, there was a “silence” and they were “shocked.” The movie starred Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam in the lead roles.
