Biopics have become a very popular genre among Bollywood filmmakers. Recently we saw Saif Ali Khan and Ajay Devgn in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and they got quite the love from the audience. But the hangover is still not finished yet. Buzz is that the much-talked biopic on three-time Olympic gold medalist, Dhyan Chand is finally happening.


The film has been in the news for the longest time and people thought that the film would never see the day of the light. But things drastically changed for the film and now the script of the film is also being written by Udta Punjab writer Abhishek Chaubey. Not just that, it is being said that Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Ranbir Kapoor are in the race to bag the lead role in the film.

Reports in Mumbai Mirror suggest that Abhishek and his team of writers are working really hard on the script currently. Dhyan Chand had a lot of literature attached to this life and hence the writers of the film are trying not to miss out on the important parts of his life and put a strong script. A source told the tabloid, “Dhyan Chand is one of the greatest players in the history of the national sport. The biopic will largely chronicle his journey to fame during the British Raj.”


The source also reveals that the cast of the film will be locked in the second half of the year. The makers of the Dhyan Chand biopic are planning to take the film on the floors in 2021 with megastars including Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Ranbir Kapoor. “Many actors have shown interest in playing the hockey legend in the past, so it shouldn’t be a problem to get a top actor on board,” said the source.

For those of you who don’t know who Dhyan Chand is, the sportsperson represented the Indian Hockey team as a center-forward from 1926 to 1948. During his international career, he scored over 400 goals in the 185 matches that he played which includes three Olympic Gold Medal wins in 1928, 1932 and 1936.

Now, let us see who amongst Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Ranbir Kapoor will actually bag this role.
