Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan starrer Brahmastra has been in the making for the longest time now. While a release date was set finally after a delay several times, grapevine now has that the release might get pushed one more time due to the pandemic and also the situation has escalated the already huge budget of the film out of control. Due to this, the actors have divided to bear a pay cut and below is all you need to know about the same.
It was earlier this year, team Brahmastra announced that the film is set to hit the screens on December 4, 2020. But seems like destiny had different plans with the pandemic kicking in and delaying things further. Reports now suggest that Dharma Productions is trying hard to curb losses that are been incurred due to the lockdown and the budget is going out of hand.
Talking to Bollywood Hungama about the same, a source close to the development said, “Currently there are about 40 more days of shoot left and given the lock down situation, it does not look like the shoot will start any time soon. Given this delay so far the budget of Brahmastra has overshot by a wide margin. The movie is high on VFX and a major chunk of VFX is still pending which includes the stuff shot with Shah Rukh Khan at a studio in Mumbai, and the plot that unfolds in Manali and Varanasi.”

The source opened up how Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have voluntarily decide to take a pay cut so as to make the project work. “As of now, Karan is looking to re-work the economics of the film. The members of the film’s cast as well as director, viz. Ayan Mukerji, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, aware of the ground realities, have voluntarily decided to take a pay cut to make the project viable. In lieu of the diminished pay, Dharma Productions is contemplating offering them a profit share in the film’s success. However details of the same have not yet been worked out,” source said.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, Brahmastra also stars Mouni Roy and South superstar Nagarjuna in pivotal parts alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. The film is said to be a fantasy drama and the makers have promised a product never seen before.
