According to a Bollywood Hungama report, Tigmanshu Dhulia said, “It was the story of two friends. After it didn’t work out with Manoj Bajpayee, Irrfan Khan and I were to play the two friends. I had re-titled the film Yaara. It was a desi adaptation of the French film Les Lyonnais (A Gang Story). It was the story of their journey in life from 1955 to 2010.”

Further explaining how he changed the narrative to suit Indian pallet and also lost weight to work with Irrfan Khan, Tigmanshu added, “I relocated the plot and the characters to Uttarakhand where I come from. They had to look compatible and convincing as friends. I lost close to 15 kgs for role. But we didn’t get to work together in that project. Lekin issi bahaane maine apna wazan ghata liya.”

Meanwhile, Irrfan Khan was last seen in Angrezi Medium alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan and Radhika Madan. But fans got a piece of happy news later that, Angrezi Medium wasn’t his last film and there are two more unreleased projects. Mantra: Song Of Scorpions and Apno Se Bewafai are the two films yet to be released starring Irrfan.

Irrfan Khan breathed his last on May 29 in Mumbai. The actor battled with cancer for over two years.
