Ever since the lockdown has been imposed by the government, the television has witnessed a new trend of bringing back old shows. After Doordarshan’s decision of rerunning Ramayana and Mahabharat, other channels too are banking upon the re-telecast of popular old shows. However, mythological shows Ramayana and Mahabharat are amongst the most-watched shows on TV right now.
Well, since these shows have started airing on TV, interesting facts have been surfacing on the internet about the show. The latest we hear is that, actress Rupa Ganguly, who essayed the role of Draupadi in B.R. Chopra’s Mahabharat was not the first choice of the makers. In fact, the makers were keen on casting Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla for the iconic role. Juhi was almost finalized for the show, however she later backed out as she signed Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak opposite Amir Khan, and eventually the makers roped in Roopa Ganguly.
Juhi had also mentioned in one of her interviews that many people asked her not to let go of the show Mahabharat. They also told her that Nasir Hussain’s last three films were not successful but she decided to still sign the film and decline the offer of Mahabharat. Well, the rest is history.
Do you think Juhi would have done a better job than Roopa Ganguly in the role of Draupadi? Let us know in the comments section below.
