Arijit Singh and Qazi Touqeer’s connection goes way beyond 20 years. The two singers met on the sets of the reality singing show Fame Gurukul. While reality shows pit contestants against each other, Fame Gurukul helped Arijit Singh and Qazi become lifelong friends. It was with the show that Qazi became a popular name. He almost achieved rockstar status. He won the show along with Ruprekha Banerjee.
On various occasions, Qazi has praised Arijit and called him a secure friend, free of jealousy. In fact, earlier this year, the two singers reunited in Arijit’s hometown. The two spent quality time in Jiaganj in West Bengal.

Recalling their first meeting, Qazi said, “That was Fame Gurukul in 2005, in Mumbai, me, Arijit, and Shahid Kapoor. We were teenagers then, and now it’s 2026, and we’re still teenagers at heart. We just refused to grow up.”
Is Fame Gurukul Winner Ruprekha Banerjee Arijit Singh’s Ex-Wife?
For the longest time, there have been rumors that the Fame Gurukul winner Ruprekha Banerjee is Arijit Singh’s ex-wife. However, there is no truth to it, and Qazi himself clarified it. In a 2023 interview with Siddharth Kannan, Qazi was asked whether Ruprekha was Arijit’s first wife. He said he was sure she was not Arijit’s first wife and called the reports of marriage as rumors. He also said he had heard the claims through social media and had never personally discussed Arijit’s first marriage with him.
Who Is Qazi Touqeer?
He is a singer and performer from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Qazi rose to national fame after winning the reality singing show Fame Gurukul in 2005. He has performed in Hindi, Urdu, and Kashmiri and has continued to remain associated with the entertainment industry over the years. Qazi also had an acting stint, appearing alongside Katrina Kaif in the song Afghan Jalebi, in which he was also the singer.

Even though his career did not grow as much as Arijit Singh’s, who finished 6th on Fame Gurukul, he is now set to become a household name again with Bigg Boss 20 and his connection to Fame Gurukul.
