It is said to be the most expensive film in the history of Indian cinema and will feature never-before-seen VFX work. While the team is working hard to meet the deadline, the biggie is already creating ripples in the trade circle.
Set to beat RRR’s pre-release business
After the epic failure of Adipurush, things were looking dicey for Kalki 2898 AD, but now, after the success of Salaar, the Prabhas brand is back in form and is expected to attract big numbers for the film. As per the report in Track Tollywood, the film is expected to beat RRR in the pre-release theatrical business, which also means a business of theatrical rights. As expected, the makers are quoting a mammoth sum for Telugu states.

Targets over 500 crores from theatrical rights!
It is learned that the makers of Kalki 2898 AD are expecting 200 crores from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The business ratio of the Nizam region is around 75 crores. In the overseas market, the makers have quoted a colossal 100 crores. For Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, a bomb price is being quoted for theatrical rights. Combining all, the figure is expected to be beyond 500 crores.
For those who don’t know, RRR had enjoyed the pre-release theatrical business of over 500 crores and that seems to be in danger in front of Kalki 2898 AD.
Meanwhile, the film is scheduled to release on 9th May 2024.
