Rajinikanth’s magnum opus Darbar which arrived earlier this month has been termed as a complete letdown economically. It seems like the euphoria around Thalaiva’s films has considerably gone down in recent years. With the latest release too, the distributors have suffered huge losses despite hitting the 200 crore mark.
As per the reports in Hindustan Times, a distributor shared that they have decided to ask for compensation from Rajinikanth as Darbar has performed way below the expectations to bore thier loss. While talking to the daily, he said, “Distributors across various districts have suffered heavy losses as the film didn’t even recover its investment cost let alone earning profits. It was a consensus decision to meet Rajinikanth as he’d understand the situation and compensate for the losses. The plan is to meet him over the weekend at his residence.”
It is also learnt that the film was made at an estimated cost of 200 crores and Rajinikanth has charged over 100 crores for it. Directed by AR Murugadoss, Darbar released on 9th January 2020.
Meanwhile, recently Rajinikanth said that he doesn’t see any progress in his acting, adding that the more you work, the more confident you get.
