Beginning of IPL career
The Indian Premier League, aka IPL, is known for serving as a platform for players with potential. Over the years, several Cricketing gems have been discovered, and Shubman is one such fantastic player. For those who don’t know, he started his IPL career in 2018 with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
From the opening season itself, Shubman Gill proved his batting talent by scoring 203 runs, and since then, he has never looked back. The price tag in the debut season
For the debut IPL season (2018), Shubman Gill was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for a price of 1.8 crores. After the debut season, he was retained by KKR for the next three years with the same salary. Gill remained with KKR till 2021.
Massive jump in Shubman Gill’s salary
In 2022, Shubman Gill was not retained by KKR, and it was then the newly formed franchise, Gujarat Titans, which was lucky enough to grab him. The Gujarat team locked the deal by offering him a price of 8 crores for the season. It was worth every penny as Shubman was a key player who helped Gujarat with their maiden trophy in their debut season itself. Back then, he scored a whopping 483 runs.
After such a rocking performance in 2022, Shubman was retained by Gujarat Titans for 2023 and even 2024. For these seasons, too, he was paid 8 crores.
So, if we calculate the growth of Shubman’s salary, he saw a hike of 6.2 crores when his team changed from Kolkata to Gujarat. It equals a staggering growth of 344.44%. That’s insane, but we’re sure that Gujarat won’t mind paying Shubman even more than 8 crores as he’s a true match-winning player.
