While Netflix’s The Crown is gearing up for its much-awaited fourth season, casting for season 5 and 6 is making a huge buzz. As we speak, Game Of Thrones actor Jonathan Pryce has joined the show as the controversial character Prince Philip for the last two seasons. If you still have not recalled, Jonathan Pryce played the High Sparrow in the Game Of Thrones. The actor was acclaimed critically and by the audience as well. He is now joining The Crown as one of the most pivotal characters in Queen Elizabeth ll’s journey.
As per Variety, Jonathan Pryce will take over Prince Philip in season 5 and 6. As for season 4, Tobias Menzies (introduced in season 3) will continue the part. It is not just the character Prince Philip, the complete cast of The Crown has seen a shuffle.
Apart from Jonathan Pryce, Imelda Staunton is all set to take over Queen Elizabeth ll for season 5 and 6. Olivia Coleman will reprise the Queen in season 4 too. Meanwhile, Lesley Manville will be playing Margaret in the final two seasons.
However, the casting of the show made a buzz a month after showrunner Peter Morgan announced that there will be a sixth season. Announcing the same, as per Variety he said, “As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons. To be clear, Series 6 will not bring us any closer to present-day — it will simply enable us to cover the same period in greater detail.”
