It was last May when The Song Of Ice And Fire author George RR Martin had promised his fans a new Game Of Thrones book before the 2020 World Con. He had even said that if he fails to meet the deadline, fans can lock him up in a small cabin. Turns out the author has missed the due date, and fans are ready with a cabin and its keys.

For the unversed, The World Con was slated for July 29 2020. But the outbreak of pandemic cancelled the event abruptly. It is this where Game Of Thrones fame Martin promised his fans to launch Winds Of Winter.

In his 2019 blog, George RR Martin wrote, “As for finishing my book… I fear that New Zealand would distract me entirely too much. Best leave me here in Westeros for the nonce. But I tell you this — if I don’t have THE WINDS OF WINTER in hand when I arrive in New Zealand for worldcon, you have here my formal written permission to imprison me in a small cabin on White Island, overlooking that lake of sulfuric acid, until I’m done.’”

Now fans on Twitter have started reminding the author his promise, and have been reacting to the same. A Twitter user wrote, “2020 was supposed to be lit. So many movies I was looking forward to seeing in the theaters, George RR Martin was supposed to finish TWOW…I hate it here.”

Another wrote, “George RR Martin is going to jail party.” Another even went on to write, “Do we actually know if Winds of Winter really exists? Or was it just an illusion?”
