Iconic singer Britney Spears has been in a court-controlled conservatorship for more than a decade now. Time and again fans have been talking about it. As per the most recent updates, fans have started trending #FreeBritney on Twitter and they are demanding her conservatorship to end. Below is all you need to know.

For the unaware, Britney Spears has been under a court-ordered conservatorship since 2008. Her father Jamie Spears has been her court-appointed guardian. It was in 2008 when she had a huge public meltdown and went bald. It was also the year when she was fighting for the custody of her two sons.

Following the conservatorship, Britney Spears was not in charge of any of her decision. The pop sensation isn’t legally allowed to choose what she eats, whom she meets or dates and even her doctor. Even her possessions including property and other valuables were kept under the control of her father and lawyer. The court order is valid up to August 22, 2020.

Amid this, Britney Spears has been successfully doing world tours, concerts and has managed to be all right. Fans are now demanding for her conservatorship to end and #FreeBritney is trending on Twitter.

Referring to her last video on Instagram and how she cryptically asked for help, a fan wrote, “Britney Spears specifically referenced her yellow shirt in the caption and she kept walking back-and-forth in front maybe to make sure y’all saw the yellow shirt..”

Another user wrote, “don’t forget that somebody commented under her pride month tiktok to wear yellow in her next video if she was in trouble and she wore yellow in the very next tiktok, and now she’s showing it off. #freebritney”

A Britney Spears’ fan who shared an old quote of hers wrote, “Britney Spears once compared her situation to jail, but at least with jail you know there’s a time when you’ll get out. She “never wanted to become one of those prisoner people.” #FreeBritney.”
